What to Expect During the Procedure
Mobile or loose teeth can be simply extracted. Before the extraction, your dentist will examine the tooth, take any necessary X-rays, and explain each step. Local anesthesia may be used for damaged teeth, to numb the area, helping ensure the procedure is as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Recovery and Aftercare
Manage Discomfort and Swelling
Use prescribed or recommended pain relief as directed. Applying a cold compress to the outside of your cheek can also help reduce swelling during the first 24 hours.
Protect the Extraction Site
Avoid smoking, using straws, or vigorous rinsing, as these actions may disturb the healing blood clot. Choose soft foods and chew away from the extraction area.
Keep Your Mouth Clean
Continue brushing and flossing, but be gentle near the extraction site. Follow your dentist’s rinsing instructions and contact the office if you experience severe pain, persistent bleeding, or signs of infection.
